  •  All contact authors for keynote/plenary, invited parallel session, and contributed oral presentations, along with “best poster” and “best student presentation” award winners will be requested to submit a regular length article to the Journal of Nuclear Materials (JNM) for normal peer review.

    • Successful papers from ICFRM-19 will be published in JNM immediately upon completion of peer review, and all the published papers will be electronically grouped together as a “virtual special issue” that will be available to all registrants of ICFRM-19. The guest editors for the ICFRM19 special issue in JNM are Yutai Katoh (ORNL) and Lance Snead (State University of New York – Stony Brook).

    • There would be no cost applied for publishing in JNM, unless the authors wish to publish open access (in which case standard open access publishing fees would apply). The Elsevier publisher has indicated they can work out a way to offer the delegates of the conference access to these papers once they’re published, without a fee, if they don’t have a subscription through their institution.

    • Dates and timeline: October 27, 2019-February 1, 2020 Manuscript submission window.  Each manuscript will be immediately available in electronic format after successful conclusion of the normal JNM peer review and proof processing. It is anticipated that the review and revision of all manuscripts will be completed before August 1, 2020, and that the full special issue will be available online on or before October 1, 2020.

  • All contact authors for ICFRM-19 poster presentations are invited to submit a regular length article to Nuclear Materials and Energy (NME) for normal peer review. Papers from ICFRM-19 will be published in NME immediately upon successful completion of peer review, and all of the published papers will be electronically grouped together as a “virtual special issue” that will be available without cost to all interested persons (as an open access journal, NME articles are freely available without charge). A portal entitled “ICFRM19” will be set up in the NME submission system for authors to submit. The guest editors for the ICFRM19 special issue in NME are Xunxiang Hu (ORNL) and Jason Trelewicz (State University of New York – Stony Brook).

    • Elsevier will offer a per article discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC) for NME for the delegates of ICFRM – the regular APC is $1,000, but this will be reduced to $500 for ICFRM delegates. Elsevier will set up a section in NME for submitting ICRFRM19 poster papers, and Xunxiang Hu and Jason Trelewicz will serve as guest editors to oversee the refereeing and assembly of the virtual special issue. A code will be set up to activate this APC discount for ICFRM authors. The key dates for publication of the NME virtual special issue is the same as for the JNM special issue: October 27, 2019-February 1, 2020  Manuscript submission window.

    • Each manuscript will be immediately available in electronic format after successful conclusion of the normal NME peer review and proof processing. It is anticipated that the review and revision of all manuscripts will be completed before August 1, 2020 and that the full special issue will be available online on or before October 1, 2020.

    • Presenters at ICFRM19 are not obligated to submit an article to either the respective JNM or NME virtual special issues, but these two publication options offer several attractive features including clustered virtual publication of fusion materials articles in a virtual special issue without the publication delays historically associated with conventional conference proceedings; each article is electronically available in a regular journal issue as soon as the review and typesetting procedures are completed.
